Registrations are accepted from January 01 to November 30. No refunds for voluntary withdrawals after April 30. Mail-in Registrations will be considered from the date received, NOT FROM THE DATE POSTDATED! Mail-in registrations, together with $ 25.00 check or money order (NO CASH) can be sent to: FishCrazy Charters, LLC., 1387 West 87 St., Cleveland, Ohio 44102. When using the mail-in option, only mail the top portion of the registration form; complete only your required information. Complete and keep the bottom portion "Proof of Registration" for your records. The responsibility for any lost, stolen, or un-received registrations lies solely with the Contestant. On- Line registrations are considered from the time on-line payment is made, together with completed On-Line registration. In- Person registrations are accepted and considered from the time of the drop off with any of the Official Registrars. Complete your required information on both top section (Registration Form), and bottom section (Proof of Registration). The Registrar will complete their information also, top and bottom sections. The Contestant will keep the bottom section, "Proof of Registration", and the Registrar keeps the top section. A list of Registrars is available on www.fishcrazycharters. com web site. Contestants are responsible to fax or e-mail in a copy of their "Proof of Registration" to: The fax number is (216) 961-9211, the e-mail is: virgil@fishcrazycharters.com. NSF check payments will result in temporary suspension of the contestant and are subject to a $ 50.00 fee. The NSF fee plus the registration fee must be paid in CASH at the above address, at which time the registration will take effect. Failure to satisfy a bounced check, together with the NSF fee, will result in permanent suspension of the contestant from this and all future derbies. Registrations received after November 30 WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED and registration fees will be returned in full.
2. Ohio Fishing Rules and Regulations. All contestants must follow the Ohio fishing rules and regulations while fishing in the Derby. Any contestant receiving a citation during the Derby period, from ANY Ohio law enforcement agency in regards to fishing regulations, will be disqualified from this tournament. Fish can be caught at any time during the derby period in Lake Erie Ohio waters and its Ohio tributaries ONLY!
3. Registrations are accepted throughout the entire duration of the Derby. However, all contestants registering during the derby period and who weigh in a prize winning fish caught within the first 72 hours after the registration MUST UNDERGO A MANDATORY POLYGRAPH EXAMINATION! The lie detector test cost is deducted from the contestant's winnings unless it is the Grand Prize winner, in which case the cost of the mandatory lie detector test will be covered by the derby. The above lie detector test is waved when the contestant’s weigh-in form is signed by a “WITNESS”*. The witness and the contestant carry the same responsibility for the fish caught.
* WITNESS is a registered Derby contestant who is present and witnesses the catch.
4. Designated Rods/Lines Rule. Fishing is permitted using only DESIGNATED RODS/LINES from shore, boat or charter. Contestants must reel in their fish; assistance with netting a legally caught fish is acceptable. There is a maximum of two "Designated Rods/Lines" allowed per contestant at any time while fishing for the Derby, with only a maximum of three hooks per line. Fish counted for the derby can be caught by ANY CONTESTANT ON ANY OF THE DESIGNATED ROD/LINE. The following procedure must be used to assign "Designated Derby Rods/Line: 1. The Rod/Line must be out of the water with “FREE LURE(S)” ( NO FISH ON) at the time it is assigned as a "Designated Rod/line". 2. In the event the Contestant desires to assign a different Rod/Line instead of an already existing one, both the new Rod/Line to be designated and the existing designated one must be out of the water at the same time, with “FREE LURES” (NO FISH ON), before the new Rod/Line can be designated. Boat occupants DO NOT ALL NEED to be registered in the Derby.
5. ONLY ONE PRIZE ALLOWED PER CONTESTANT! Contestants can only claim the LATEST, LARGEST PRIZE their Weigh-Ins qualifies them for. In the event a contestant holds a winning placement and then moves up in prize or wins an equal prize later, the contestant placing immediately bellow them in the standings will claim the prize. The application of this rule guarantees that once a contestant wins one of the weeks or months as a 1st place winner for that period, they can never lose that prize, only win another equal or larger prize instead, later in the derby.
6. Weigh-Ins. Contestants can weigh-in and register an unlimited number of fish throughout the duration of the Derby at no additional cost. A registered fish is considered for the weekly cash prize for the week it was caught in, the monthly cash prize for the month it was caught in, and the over-all leader board. All weigh-in stations will follow tournament weigh- in procedures. A weighed and measured fish will be “marked” by removing its eyes, contestants must agree with this procedure. "Marked" fish will not be accepted. For a fish to be considered for the week or month it was caught in, the fish MUST BE WEIGHED by noon the day following the week or the month it was caught in. All weigh-ins are concluded at 3: 00pm on November 30. Be sure to contact the official weigh-in station of your choice for their hours of operation. Contestants are allowed to have their fish taken to the weigh-in stations by another party, HOWEVER THE CONTESTANTS ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR FISH, AND THE WEIGH-IN FORM MUST BE COMPLETED AND SIGNED BY THE CONTESTANT, both top and bottom portions. The weigh-in station will fill in their portion at the time of the weigh-in. Contestants, or their party, will receive a PROOF OF THE WEIGH-IN, WHICH THE CONTESTANT MUST PRESENT TOGETHER WITH THE PROOF OF REGISTRATION TO BE GIVEN CREDIT FOR THE FISH CAUGHT! Contestants are responsible to fax or e-mail in their PROOF OF WEIGH-IN. The fax number is: (216) 961-9211, the e-mail is: virgil@fishcrazycharters.com. All scales used are certified, and the weight is measured down to 5 thousandth of a pound (0.005). Measurements are obtained by collapsing/pinching the tail for the longest length of the fish. Measuring is done once on each side of the fish and the longest obtained length is to be used. Any tampering with the fish to obtain an unnatural and altered weight or measurement will result in immediate disqualification of the fish and/or the contestant. A list of the OFFICIAL WEIGH-IN STATIONS can be found on the official Derby Web Site: http: //www.fishcrazycharters.com
7. Using the fish for other tournaments is allowed, as long as the participants, while fishing both tournaments consecutively, follow this derby's rules. However, the fish must be weighed at one of our official weigh-in station!
8. Minors. Participants 18 years old and younger, the registration must be co-signed by an adult legal guardian to the minor. The adult co-signer is also allowed to register and participate in the tournament with purchase of separate registration, but is not required to do so in order to co-sign for the minor.
9. Polygraph Examinations (Lie Detector Tests). The 1ST. PLACE WINNER of the Derby MUST submit to a MANDATORY polygraph examination. Two more additional MANDATORY polygraph examinations will be administered at random. Additional polygraph examinations may be required of any derby contestant at the Tournament’s Committee’s discretion. Arrangement to administer the examinations will be made with the closest available certified polygraph examiner. If such arrangement cannot be made, the contestant must be available for testing at the time and place designated by the Tournament's Committee. The participant MUST be available for the examination immediately. Participants to be examined cannot be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication. A participant under such chemical influence at the time of examination will be considered a refusal on the participant’s part. A participant’s fitness to be examined is at the sole discretion of the polygraph examiner. Only the actual cost of the test will be covered by the derby. Only polygraph examiners chosen by the Tournament Committee will be used.
10. Tiebreakers. Ties by weight are decided through length measurements. If still a tie, than a coin flip will decide the winner. The loser of the coin toss will drop down one place in standings. All contestants, or appointed representatives of the contestants, must be present for the coin toss. If one party is not represented, the winner will be the one contestant represented. If both parties are not represented, they will both lose their place in the standings. If necessary, the coin tosses will be held at 7:00pm at FishCrazy Charters location on December 04. A contestant can appoint anyone as his or her representative at the coin toss through a written letter naming the name of their representative.
11. W-9. Any contestant receiving a prize greater than $ 600.00 will be required to complete a W-9 form prior to receiving the prize money.
12. Protests: Any contestant has the right to protest another contestant. The protest must be made in writing to the Tournament Committee any time during the derby, no later than 24 hours of the completion of the Derby, and must include the protest fee of $ 300.00, all documentation, list of witnesses, etc., to uphold your protest. If the protest is upheld the fee will be returned. If it is not, no refund will be given. A lie detector test MAY be used to address the protest, and must be taken by the contestant(s) in question. Failure to submit to a lie detector and/or failure of the test will result in immediate disqualification. Contact for protests: FishCrazy Charters. LLC, 1387 West 87 St., Cleveland Ohio, 44102. 216-408-0404.
13. Spirit of the rule: Every rule may have loopholes. It is our goal to provide a sportsman like Derby. All concerns in regards to the Derby and/or its rules should be directed to the Tournament Committee, at the FishCrazy Charters, LLC address, as they have sole jurisdiction in determining the application of the rules.
14. Entries and Rules. This Derby and its committee members have the right of entry refusal or expulsion from this Derby to any one for any reason. The Derby and its committee members reserve the right to add new rules and/or regulations to cover any circumstances not covered in these rules and the committee decision is final as to interpretation of said rule. Contestants are responsible to familiarize themselves with the rules, and check for any updates and changes. Any such changes and updates are posted on the official site of the tournament: http://www.fishcrazycharters.com.
15. Promotion and Advertising. All contestants agree to be present and receive their awards and prizes publicly at the awards party.
